The Projected Future Burden of Disease To estimate the burden to the health system of likely future demographic and epidemiological trends, a model was developed to project over the next forty years morbidity and mortality from leading non-communicable illnesses and injuries in Chile, based on current prevalence of risk factors and mortality rates.
